Mormons. Murder. Minnesota. Montana. Follow Cook County Sheriff Deb Slater and Lakota FBI Special Agent Herb Whitefeather as they trail a zealous religious serial killer from the wilds of NE Minnesota to the Big Belt Mountains of Montana. Reprising two of Mark’s favorite characters from his debut murder mystery, The Legacy, Laman’s River is certain to become another great Munger read!

The Reviews:

Mark – Just finished reading Laman’s River and have to tell you – what a page turner! I was impressed by the amount of research that went into it; the detail. The descriptions of place… were of great importance to me, but when I really settled into the story as a whole, it just carried me away. Looking forward to reading more of your work. Thanks. Can I use your comments on the website? With little regional novels, every little bit helps. Also, my review of “The Bones of Plenty” is now up on my blog.

I’ve learned over the years of reading Mark Munger books that once you start reading you better not plan on being to put it down until you’re done. Laman’s River was no exception. Your attention to details of people and places made me feel I was part of the story. Thanks for taking me along for the ride.

My family and I recently returned from a trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. We took a side trip to Bozeman to visit Montana State to visit campus; my son is entering his senior year and Bozeman interested him based on a college fair we went to last fall. I had been running on empty with my assorted magazine collection and the sole paperback I brought on the trip, and as my family was in the campus bookstore stocking up on various t-shirts and tchotchkes, I perused the book collection. Laman’s River caught my eye and after reading the back cover, it was sealed.

You see, we are life-long Minnesotans and my heart in is the BWCA, especially the Ely area. To find a book in Montana about canoe country and the mountains in Montana, it was just a natural connection. To further the surprise, I found that it was an autographed copy from 2013.

Anyway, I truly enjoyed the story and am looking forward to “Mr. Environment”. We spend many hours on the trail outside of Hinckley and I’m curious about the trail namesake.

    Thanks much!

Scot: Wow! That’s a blast from the past. My family and I take an annual ski trip to Bridger every President’s Day and in 2013, I did a couple of book events in the Bozeman area, one of which was at the university bookstore. Didn’t know any of the stock was still there but I am glad a Minnesotan found the book! I also did an essay for a radio program, Reflections West, when I was in Montana and you might enjoy the clip from that great little show. It’s up at: http://reflectionswest.org/episodes/ep70_munger.php. It’s only a five minute clip but I was happy it aired! If you like what you read, you can find more on this website under “Buy Books Direct.” Most of my books are set in the Arrowhead Region of Minnesota or at least places nearby. Again, thanks for writing and I hope you enjoy the story.
